The Dance Foyer at the Opera on the rue Le Peletier

The Dance Foyer at the Opera on the rue Le Peletier” is a painting painted by Egar Degas in 1872. It’s the type of hystorical painting. Right now the painting is located in Musée d’Orsay.

On the first plan we can see a furnishing- chair made od light wood. Looking at the chair we can perceive a red fan and something that looks like turquoise fabric.

The artist showed the light in the room perfectly. The colors of walls are warm and they make contrast with ballerinas’ dresses.

On the second plan we see two ballerinas in beautiful turquoise dresses. On of them- probably starts to practice some kind of ballet figure, her hair are dark brown and pulled into a bun. Her look is finished with some black ribbons on her back and light pink ballet shoes.

The second ballerina has lighter hair pulled up in a ponytail, turquoise dress with dark green and red ribbons and also light pink ballet shoes.

She sits on a chair and looks like she is streching up. If we’ll look closer we can perceive that she’s wearing dark earings.

On the background, there is a dark haired man that wears a light suit. He is probably the director of the opera and he looks after the ballerinas. The man holds a birch cane in his right hand, he shows something for one of the dancers with hand gestures. Another man dressed in some darker clothes sits behind him. He also holds some kind of a baton in his hand.

Behind the men we can see a ton of dancing ballerinas dressed just like the ones on the second plan. Some of them are practicing and streching, others are just dancing. They all have colorful ribbons on their backs. If we’ll see closer we can observe another ballerina on the left, dancing behind the open doors.

My Opinion:

I think the painting „The Dance Foyer at the Opera on the rue Le Peletier” by Egar Degas is absolutely gorgerous and it would look perfect in my leaving room ;)IMG_3740.jpeg
