,,Shoemaker”
is a picture painted by Tadeusz Makowski. It was drew in 1930. This is
one of a series of paintings showing various professions for example
,,Fisherman”, ,,Gunman" and ,,Baker".
In center of painting we can
see shoemaker doing his work. He looks at us with question in he’s brown, round
eyes. He looks like someone took him away from work and talk with him. You can
think that the worker sees us and watches us. Makowski shows him as old man
with gray, thick hair who sits over big, stone table. The craftsman's hands are
dark and are painted with red paint, so we can think that his hands are rough.
When we see shoemaker we can think that he's kind and sympathetic.
On walls we can see various
things used to repair shoes and create new pieces. They are brownish and in
different sizes. It helps us understand that he's hard-working.
On left side of painting we
can see window. Painter used yellow and blue paint so we see the sunset.
Shoemaker works late, so maybe the person he's looking at want to worker go to
his home, but old man want finish his work.
The lines in Makowski's
painting are and clearly show separate things in the work. Sometimes the lines
are straight, but also wavy. Makowski painted beautiful painting which all of
us can understand. Makowski's signature is clearly visible in the lower left
corner.
