The Last Supper, Leonardo da Vinci
In the foreground we can see Jesus Christ and his twelve Apostles. They are all sitting at a table covered with a white tablecloath. The table is filled with food, plates and cutlery. The are in a room and in the background there are three windows. You can look through the windows and see some landscape. The colours are warm, mostly yellowish.
Jesus Christ is sat in the middle with six of
the apostles on each side. All of the Apostles
look like they are arguing or asking their mentor something. This painting
portriats a scene from the Holy Bible when at the Last Supper Jesus told them
that there is a traitor among them, a someone who will betray Jesus and sell
him to the guards. You can clearly see
on Jesus's face that he is sad and worried, he knows he is going to be betrayed
and eventually get killed. The three men most on right are pointing at the
others to save themselve from getting accused. The ones closest to Jesus on his
right are asking him to assure that they are not the traitors. Apostles on the
left are disscusing who might it be, one of them is holding his hands up to
show that he is innocent.
The painting is very important to the Christians
but I think it can catch everyone's eye with how dynamic all of the characters
are, you can see what they are doing and felling.
